I'm here in New Zealand, and last week something happened that changed me:
I was standing out side at night at a block party BBQ, and I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye. Looking up, a cloud far off in the distance was lit up, as if from within. An instant later, a meteor exploded from the cloud and screamed across the sky, a mere 300 yards up, and going at least 1000 miles an hour. The front looked like a spark, and threw off a sharp light, which lit it's smokey tail for only a few seconds.
I feel honored to have seen it, I know I'll never see anything like it again, and I feel small in this universe and happy for it.
